The Ford Mustang Is Now the World’s Best Selling Sports Coupe 0

The Ford Mustang is now the world’s best selling sports coupe in its first year on the global market. So, how was it all accomplished and will the big risk eventually pay off?

For the first time ever, Ford opened up the Mustang for sale on the global market. There are many factors for its huge amount of sales. Firstly, it’s only just been released outside the US so people with expendable money will want to get hold of the famous American sports coupe. Secondly, the vehicle was completely revamped in order to look more attractive to the global market. For these reasons, the Mustang has sold quickly and there is no evidence to suggest that it is in a process of slowing down.

So there have been 141,868 Mustangs sold. Around 110,000 of these were coupes, of which there has never been more than 100,000 units sold.  The remainder of the vehicles sold were convertible versions of the car. The selling units are very impressive but, it must be mentioned that only 19,000 of the 141,868 were sold outside of the US. So, there are also extremely impressive selling figures just inside the US.

From the 19,000 copies sold globally, 16,000 of these were just in the European market. The Mustang was the best selling coupe in Germany, France and the UK for different quarters. The UK on its own purchased 3,500 of the vehicles, so they are very popular here. The Ford Mustang was also the best selling sports coupe in China for the 4th quarter and likewise in Australia where they are all sold out, well through to the end of 2017 anyway.

A Ford sales analyst mentioned that “U.S. consumers have enjoyed interesting foreign sports cars for decades, so it was time for the Americans to return the favour with the worldwide launch of the new Mustang… Global markets have responded in a huge way. Ford Mustang was the only sports coupe in the world with more than 100,000 units registered last year.”

So, congratulations to the Ford Mustang for its newest achievement, we hope to see many more of the beautiful machines driving through the streets of the UK soon.
