The Ford Fiesta EcoSport SUV/Crossover 0

Ford has reportedly revealed details of their Ford Fiesta EcoSport SUV/Crossover through their Indian website by mistake. It appeared as the “Fiesta EcoSport” on the website.

There have been rumours for months now that Ford was looking to create a SUV / Crossover version of the Ford Fiesta. The rumours were rife when spy shots were leaked more than a year ago of what looked like a Fiesta Crossover.

The rumours appear to be having plenty of substance. If Ford have placed the car’s details on the website and called it the “Fiesta EcoSport” you can safely assume that the car will be arriving. Screenshots have even been captured that prove Ford’s publication on the website.

Made in India

Reports from India have mentioned that the car will be built in the country and then exported to emerging markets such as Australia as well as sold in India. If released, the car will contend with vehicles such as the Nissan Juke. It may also carry a different model name.

It is important that the vehicle is produced in India as the success of it will down to the pricing. If the EcoSport is produced in the country then it will allow Ford to place it competitively on the market in terms of its overall cost.

1.0 EcoBoost Engine

The EcoSport is reportedly expected to come with Ford’s new highly efficient 1.0 litre Ecoboost engine, which is expected to make a huge impact upon the new generation Ford Focus released in 2012. It may sound like a small engine but Ford has claimed the 1.0 litre powertrain will provide the performance and power of a 1.6 petrol engine.

This may not come as a surprise to many considering the rumour barrel which has been going on for a number of months now.

Indian Auto Show 2012

Images of the car may have been revealed on Ford’s Indian website but we may get to see the car in real life as soon as next month. Many automotive sources have said that they expect the car to be shown at the January 2012 motor show in India.
