The Ford Ecoboost proving to be an overnight success 1
Ford Focus 1.0 Ecoboost has performed wonders in its official month on sale. In total the car managed to account for 17 per cent of all sales in April of this year, shifting almost 1,000 units. That is a remarkable achievement especially considering the length of time that the car has been on sale.
Ford Focus sales
When taking the whole of Europe into account, there have been a total of 4,700 plus customers purchasing the Ford Focus 1.0 litre EcoBoost in April alone. This represents the EcoBoost totalling 23.3 per cent of all Ford Focus models in Europe within 19 various countries.
Roeland de Waard, Ford’s Vice President for Marketing, Sales and Service said “The 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine is an example of an innovation arriving to market at just the right time, when customers are looking for a very fuel efficient but still-fun-to-drive petrol engine. I have rarely seen such universal praise from the press, dealers and customers as that received for the Focus 1.0-litre EcoBoost”
One of the smallest ever
The Ford EcoBoost turbo charged engine is one of the company’s masterpieces. It is the smallest engine ever created by the company which is able to produce an outstanding amount of power. It can be compared to typical petrol 1.6 litre engine in terms of power produced. The fuel efficiency and C02 levels are tough to be beat by anyone’s standards. The engine weights only 97 kg. The size is so small that an A4 sheet of paper can cover it.
The Ford UK dealer Council Chairman Philip Maskell said “The new and exciting 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine in Focus has attracted a lot of positive attention at Ford dealers since its launch in April. We are delighted that over 60 per cent of customers who are in the market for a Ford Focus with a manual transmission go on to purchase one equipped with the new 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine after a test drive.”
It will not only be the focus that has the pleasure of the EcoBoost 1.0 litre however. Ford has announced that the engine will be placed into the Ford B-Max and the Ford C-Max later on this year. More models are also set to receive the pleasure with Ford expected to make announcements in the near future.
