Introducing the new Ford EcoSport 0

The new, facelifted Ford EcoSport is set to be released at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. This will mark the second reworking of the car; a first facelift took place in 2015 but the forthcoming version is said to be much more intensive than before.

Sporting revised styling (borrowing heavily from the larger Kuga/Escape and Edge) plus an interior taken from the current Fiesta, including the SYNC 3 infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, B&O stereo and 8in display. ST-Line models will get big alloys, different bumpers and “sports-tuned driving dynamics”.

The new EcoSport boasts a 1.5-litre diesel engine capable of 123bhp and 221 lb ft if paired with Ford’s ‘intelligent’ AWD, which splits torque evenly between the front and back axles in under 20 milliseconds.

Ford will continue offering the EcoSport with the universal 1.0-litre EcoBoot motor, with between 99 and 138bhp. Among the available tech options offered (some come as standard) are cruise control, automatic climate control and blind-spot monitoring.

The EcoSport is meant to be Ford smallest SUV – at least that’s how it is being pitched – although an ‘SUVed’ Fiesta Active is slated for next year.
