Ford partners with Starbucks so drivers can order coffee on the go 0

Ford drivers who like their coffee will soon be able to place their Starbucks orders on the move after the two companies announced a partnership.

Using the car manufacturer’s SYNC3 voice-activated technology which has Amazon’s voice service built into it, the command “Alexa, ask Starbucks to start my order”, will allow drivers to place their caffeine fix before arriving at the designated Starbucks outlet.

The collaboration between the two companies was announced at Starbuck’s annual shareholders meeting in Seattle last week.

Starbucks chief technology officer, Gerri Martin-Flickinger, announced the new enterprise on stage, then showed a video of her actually using the technology.

“It only takes a little imagination to think about where conversation ordering will show up next,” she said.

Ford themselves started working with Amazon’s Alexa earlier this year when owners of the company’s hybrid and electric vehicles were able to interact and control their cars from their homes using Amazon Echo and Alexa-compatible devices.

The carmaker intends to further develop the technology by installing Alexa into all vehicles with the SYNC 3 car technology.
