Carjacked for Classic Ford Cortina 0

Carjacked-for-Classic-Ford-CortinaPolice have started an investigation after a woman was attacked in what appears to be an apparent “car-jacking” on a quiet rural road in the Borders on Sunday night.

Sarah Morecroft was driving back to her home in Lilliesleaf, Roxburghshire, when two men stepped into the road, blocking it, and then tried to forcibly eject the 31 year old barmaid from her Cortina.

It’s believed the classic Ford she was driving was the target of the thieves’ attention. Fortunately, Ms Morecroft managed to keep the engine running, but was punched in the face before succeeding in escaping the carjackers. She subsequently alerted the police who have started a hunt for the two men.

Ms Morecroft said: “This is the first time I’ve taken the Cortina to work with me and I think it was the car they were after.

“I can’t think why they would want to harm me…all I can think is that they wanted the car.”

“It all happened really fast but I was punched and he tried to drag me out…he was saying ‘get out the car’.
