2017 Ford Fiesta set to be unveiled 0

There have been months of rumours and spy shot floating around the internet, but the unveiling of the all-new 2017 Ford Fiesta is imminent. The latest incarnation of the popular small car is set to be unveiled late November in Germany.

Mark Fields (Ford Ceo) and Jim Farley (Ford of Europe president) will debut the new super-mini at the ‘Go Further’ event in Cologne, which will also see the unveiling of new fuel saving technologies and commercial vehicles.

Dimension wise, the new Fiesta is set to be a similar size to the current seventh-generation model. There is expected to be additional space in the inside for passengers.

Styling will follow a more evolutionary route, rather than any major changes, with the car set to keep its iconic front grille. It is expected to inherit a similar tailgate to that on the Focus.

Earlier this year, Ford announced that it intended to can the lower trim editions of the Fiesta, due to the majority of customers tending to purchase the Zetec trim upwards.

It’s expected that the new edition Fiesta will begin at Zetec, with customers looking for a budget hatchback, now able to purchase the new KA+ instead. It’s believed a range-topping Vignale model is also in the pipeline.

Engines details are unknown as yet, but we can expect to see a selection of three and four-cylinder models, with a stronger focus on the lauded 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbo engines.

Unsurprisingly, there will be a ST performance model developed alongside the regular Fiesta and spyshots of the next generation ST have already been scooped. This version is expected to be released later however.

Americans are likely to miss out on the Fiesta, as Ford is expected to announce that it plans to pull the Fiesta – and the ST hot hatch – from the US market due to lack of interest from buyers.
