The Ford Focus ST in South Africa 0
The Ford Focus ST is expected to make a great impact over in South Africa. It will be against the popular models of the Volkswagen Golf GTI and the Renault Megane RS. The third generation of the ST looks to be quite a fantastic vehicle.
The four cylinder 2.0 litre EcoBoost engine will be the vehicle’s best asset. Ford has thought about the impact to the environment by lowering the vehicle’s carbon emissions but has not drastically reduced the fuel emissions, which comes as a major surprise.
The car will be available in two trims, the ST1 and the ST3. The latter comes with leather seats, rain sensitive wipers, bi-Xenon HID headlamps, automatic climate control and daytime running headlamps. The amazing tangerine colour is only available upon the ST3 package. The ST1 probably represents better value for money in our opinion. This specific trim comes with Recaro seats, a SYNC audio system, voice control, Bluetooth connectivity ability, a USB port, voice control and an auxiliary in port.
The ST Bodykit that comes with the Ford Focus ST adds a great deal of style and aggression to the vehicle. At the front comes a trapezoidal grille, helping to the make the vehicle look modern and sporty. At the back comes a wonderful rear spoiler on top of rear air diffusers. The huge 18 inch alloy wheels are wonderfully styled and suit the car’s character perfectly. The double jointed exhaust pipe is uniquely based in the centre of the car, looking marvellous at the same time.
Whereas the exterior may beat rivals in many areas, it falls short within the interior when compared to the Volkswagen Golf and Renault Megane. The materials are quite cheap and not laid out in an attractive manner. It is not all bad within the interior however. The wonderful Recaro seats offer a fantastic driving position. When travelling at speed, the seats ensure that the driver and the passenger are both synced in with the speed. The ST badges are neatly placed within the centre top of the seats.
Ford said that the car can reach a top speed of 246km/h and reach 0 – 62 MPH in just 6.5 seconds. We believe that the Ford Focus ST is sure to be popular over in South Africa.
