Ford doing better than expected with EcoBoost engines 0

Ford is over achieving and over hitting targets with their EcoBoost engines.

Originally America’s second largest automotive company were hoping to sell approximately 1.5 million engines by the year 2013. It has been confirmed that Ford are now way on track to beating that figure and will sell in excess of 1.6 turbocharged EcoBoost engines. The news was confirmed by Head of Ford’s operations in the Americas region, Mark Fields.

A 1.0 litre three cylinder EcoBoost engine will be installed into the Ford Focus or Ford Fiesta in 2013. Ford will also install a 2.0 litre four cylinder version of their EcoBoost range within the Ford Taurus.

EcoBoost engines do exactly what it says on the tin. It’s powerful whilst being extremely economical at the same time, combining two of the most desired features in the automotive industry. The mixture of the two within the same car is notoriously difficult to find.

The 2013 Ford Flex SUV

The 2013 Ford Flex SUV will have a starting price of $30,885 and will consume 18 MPG in urban areas and 25 MPG on the motorway. That may sound quite a lot of fuel consumption but it is actually a commendable amount considering the category that the car has been placed in.

It is difficult to find a vehicle that can fit 7 adults comfortably. The Ford Flex achieves that feat in astonishing fashion, with luxurious seats with plenty of head and leg room.

The car will be available in both front wheel and all wheel drive functionality. The engine choices consist of a 3.5 litre V6 which is capable of hitting a maximum of 287 BHP. The V6 powered engine is a brand new entrant for the 2013 model, consisting of more power and containing better economy.

Further in the range comes a 3.5 litre EcoBoost V6 engine which comes with all wheel drive technology. The economy lowered here hitting only 16 MPG in urban areas and 23 MPG on the motorway.

The 2013 Ford Flex now has a more modernised design coming with a new look and interior. The front of the car has a more aggressive type of style with the cabin containing a more modernised look.

Ford has recently embarked on a new strategy, One Ford where vehicles will appeal to the global market as once rather than individual markets. This will be helped a great deal by their new EcoBoost engines.
