Ford B-Max production already started in Romania 0

Ford has begun the production of the upcoming B-Max in Romania. 60,000 models are expected to be created in the country by the end of the year.

Stephen Odell, the CEO of Ford Europe has said “This is a great day for Ford Motor Company, our Craiova manufacturing facility, and for Romania. This is a world-class facility building two of Ford’s most advanced products – the Ford B-MAX and the 2012 International Engine of the Year, the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine – to the highest quality levels for our customers.”

The famous 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine is currently being built in Romania. On top of this there will be a 1.5 litre which will hit factories later on in the year.

The new 1.0 litre Ford B-Max will come in power stages of 100 BHP and 125 BHP. The particular variant will be a wonderful alternative to the 1.4 litre and 1.6 litre engines. There will be some Duratorq TDCi’s included in the range too.

The new Ford B-Max comes with a great amount of standard kit which justifies the price tag immensely.

These include:

  • Fold flat front passenger seat
  • Adjustable load floor in luggage compartment
  • Adjustable driver’s seat
  • Intelligent protection System with front, side, knee and curtain airbags.
  • Remote central locking
  • Ford Easy Fuel capless refuelling system
  • Electrically-operated door mirrors
  • Emergency Brake Assist (EBA)
  • Electronic Stability Programme (ESP)
  • One hand one motion fold flat rear seats
  • Body colour bumpers
  • Low tyre pressure Deflation Detection System
  • Centre rear seat head restraint
  • Rake- and reach-adjustable steering wheel
  • One-touch windows

It has been 3 years since Ford purchased the factory from the Romanian Government, with this being Ford’s most significant move yet. Traian Basescu, the Romanian President purchased the first Ford vehicle to be created in the country. He was also present at the B-Max production event. Ford has recently pumped in €180 million of investment.

The Ford Ecoboost engine will hit the U.S market next year along with the Asia Pacific and African markets. The engine has been performing wonders for Ford recently with a strong chunk of sales deriving from them.

The Ford B-Max is a spiritual successor to the Ford Fusion, a car which is now outdated in around the world.
